Essential Questions:
What are the key images that represent the most important people, places, and things in your life? Mainly, the first photo of each set are most important , especially the photo of Starry Night.
How can photography be used to preserve or remind us of memories? They capture a particular and certain moment that can be filled with memories and emotion.
How does the way an image is shot and printed affect tone, mood, and meaning of that image? If the picture has a lot of bright colors and light, it should be a happy picture. The same goes for dark lighting and little color with a sad and angry mood.
What power do photographic images have to tell a personal story? What is not viable in images? Photos have the power to tell a story with one picture. In that one picture you can imagine what the subject is thinking about or doing or even feeling. The thing that isn't viable in photos are context because you only see one part of the story. If there's a picture of someone laughing, you would normally think that they're happy about something good that happened, but they could be smiling because someone they don't like is experiencing unfortunate things. You can really only assume context, but if it's an exceptionally good photo, you can have more evidence for specific context and story.
How do words (titles, captions, and descriptions) enhance or take away from the meaning of a photographic image? I think they can take away from an image because it takes away a little mystery of what's going on in the photo and not leaving stuff to the imagination. Words can also add the the photo because then there is context to the photo and you have some explanation for what's going on and the context. There's less mystery but you also then know why a little kid is laughing or why someone sitting on the sidewalk is crying.
